The Blue Hour is a bi-monthly reading series, featuring up-and-coming short fiction writers and poets from all walks of life at The Victory Theatre Center in Burbank, CA.
The Blue Hour is about voices. We turn the well-established Big Victory stage into a living room style reading. The work at The Blue Hour often represents all walks of life, but it speaks to the collective consciousness of young adults in a respected space where things were simpler, before Facebook quizzes and Buzzfeed articles and CNN alerts took up all of the space in our heads. There’s soda and candy, we all wear black, and we always bring along our blue wingback signature chair, and we do it all under the neon sign at the beloved Victory Theatre Center in Burbank, CA.
Lily Anne Harrison, the host of The Blue Hour, is an actress and writer living in Toluca Lake, and the founder of The reading series. She aimed to create a beatnik-era feel and a dressed-down platform for both herself and for the strange and wonderful writers she was meeting in workshops and readings around Los Angeles.
All of this possible thanks to the generous founders of the Victory Theatre Center, Tom Ormeny & Maria Gobetti, and with the assistance and guidance of teacher and writer extraordinaire Adele Slaughter.
